Middle Leadership- Personal Development
Miss Loveridge and Ms Smith are Laurel Lane's Middle Leadership and they support the personal development of the school. Each half term, they will provide an update on all of their hard work.
Spring Term 2026
Once again, we have been very busy at Laurel Lane. The year 6’s have celebrated six months as prefects and we elected new prefects to take over for the rest of the year – some applied to continue the role! Well done to them all! They are going to be helping around the school and representing the school at future events. They are focusing on supporting staff with lunchtime behaviour in the corridors and are doing a very good job!
The school council have worked hard this year on improving the school. They have helped The Pantry to redesign the school menu and prioritised the foods that the children enjoy most. They have also carried out walks around the school, looking at the environment. As a result of their suggestions, the teachers have created beautiful displays along the corridor to showcase the children’s learning. They are now investigating ways to celebrate and reward the successes of the children more effectively.
Eco-Warriors were elected for each class and they are enthusiastically encouraging more efficient practices in our classrooms, including turning the lights out and the boards off while not being used. They have recently launched this year’s Big Walk and Wheel competition for the school which begins next week. We are excited to see the impact we can have on the environment by travelling in a more environmentally sustainable way.
It was a busy week when we celebrated Children’s Mental Health week. We launched it with an online assembly with the author Kate Hopper who read us her story on building confidence and ways to share worries. We then completed different tasks throughout the week – mindfulness colouring, yoga and puzzles to name a few!
It is so lovely to see so many parents coming to read with their children at our half-termly ‘Come Read with Me’ and ‘Book Look’ sessions. It would be really nice to see a few more parents in Key Stage Two so please do come along if you can spare the time.
